Hardwood flooring installation on concrete – Many homeowners choose wooden floors for their rich, natural appearance. Others consider it easy for today’s wooden floors to prefer rugs or other flooring options. Because wood is sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity, installing a wooden floor over a concrete slab is not always possible. If you find that moisture is not a problem in your home, you have options for installing wooden floors with either solid wood or wood flooring.

Hardwood Floor Types

Hardwood flooring installation on concrete is available in fix and EWP options. They do not expand and contract as much as solid wood flooring with changes in temperature and humidity. These floors can be installed at or under class, making them acceptable for cellar installation when moisture is not a matter.

Moisture

Before considering installing a hardwood flooring installation on concrete, check the concrete plate for moisture. New concrete should cure for six to eight weeks for moisture to disappear. In older concrete, test for the presence of moisture by placing a 15-inch square of polyethylene in several places on the floor. Tape square down on all sides. After 24 to 48 hours, check the polyethylene for condensation. If no condensation is present, your concrete slab is suitable for installing a wooden floor.
